Children and Youth Ministry

What’s on for kids at the Encounter Pentecost Day?

Saturday 23 May 2026
St George’s Cathedral, Southwark

Encounter Pentecost will be a great day for the whole family - not least for children and young people!

  • Morning: 10.00 - 12:00
whilst adults are held spellbound in the Cathedral by Fr Emmanuel Mansford CFR, our children and young people will have their own sessions in the Amigo Hall from 10.30 am (sign in from 10 am) to 12 noon:

    • Children from Yr 1 to Yr 7 in the Upper Amigo Hall, led by Colette Doran Hannon from the Archdiocese’s Education Service

    • Young people from Yr 8 upwards in the downstairs Amigo Hall, for their ‘mini-retreat’ led by the wonderful diocesan Youth Ministry Team

Places are limited, so to avoid disappointment we encourage you
to register your children and young people below for both the morning and afternoon sessions

  • Lunchtime: 12:00 - 14:30
families come together for an extended lunchtime, to take advantage of authentic international food, a variety of stalls showcasing things going on in the Archdiocese and a range of prayer activities in the Cathedral - you might even be able to squeeze in a few minutes in the park diagonally across from the Cathedral entrance!

  • Afternoon: 14:15 - 15:45
back to the Upper Amigo Hall, this time for both children and young people, for a Music Workshop led by the inspirational Diocesan Director of Music Jonathan Schranz from 2.30 pm (sign in from 2.15 pm) to 3.30 pm, with refreshments for the youngsters before the Closing Mass.

  • Closing Mass: 16:00 - 17:00
the Vigil Mass of Pentecost, celebrated by the Cathedral Dean, Canon Michael Branch - with the children and young people leading the congregation in singing one of the hymns they have learnt in the Music Workshop.
